Founder, owner and managing director
Since studying Chinese in Beijing fresh out of Lund University, the development I have seen China undergo since 1986 has been nothing short of amazing. My passion for purchasing services and corporate social responsibility started during my ten years with the Åhlens buying offices in Asia where I had the position of Managing Director before the opportunity came along to open up my own company in 2002.
I come from Malmö, Sweden, and Hong Kong has been my base since 1991 even though I have lived and worked in periods in Taiwan, China, India and Bangladesh.
When I started Gekko in 2002, I envisioned it to be a reliable one stop service for SMEs needing high quality support and representation. My knowledge of Chinese is a real asset and I still work with projects in the factories personally – mainly in capacity building and special quality improvement.
My qualifications as a trained SA8000 and ISO14001 auditor enables me to provide assurance to company management and employees as well as external stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved.
As a long standing Board of Director in the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong since 1994, I have served twice as vice Chairman and represented the chamber on the Pearl River Delta committee. I have chaired the Dragon News editorial committee and currently I am active in the Environmental Committee and have taken initiatives in collection and recycling electronic waste from member companies (WEEE) and started the annual beach cleanup activities.
Working with Swedish companies based in Hong Kong is the best scenario I could have imagined for myself. I enjoy the cosmopolitan lifestyle of Hong Kong immensely but on my time off it is wonderful to live close to the country parks of the Sai Kung peninsula with all they have to offer a dog owner and nature lover. I like to exercise my green thumb as an amateur gardener. Hong Kong is a great hub for Asia travel with Sri Lanka and Bali as my all time favourites.
