Quality inspection
Anyone opening the first box of goods from a full container and noticing a problem then wishes they had had that box opened in the factory. Eliminate your risk of receiving shipments of faulty goods by having Gekko Quality Solutions become your eyes and voice on the local factory floor.
Gekko Gekko Quality Solutions offers a wide range of quality inspection services. Depending on your requirements and concern we will recommend one or several of the following inspections:
- IPI: Initial Production Inspection
- DPI: During Production Inspection
- PSI: Pre Shipment Inspection
- CLI: Container Loading Inspection
Inspection services also include basic review of supplier capabilities, i.e. management, operating procedures and systems.
Within 24 hours of inspection you will receive a detailed report with photos and information. If discrepancies are found we speak directly with the responsible staff and email or call you from the factory floor with a recommendation to take the next step as quick as possible. We also offer the additional service to communicate and follow up on those actions with the factory.
Initial Production Inspection
This inspection takes place right before or in the very beginning of the manufacturing process out in the factory. The aim is to make sure the customer’s specifications and requirements are well understood by the supplier. Early identification of discrepancies and misunderstandings, together with corrective actions early in the production process will save both time and money. This is also a good way to show your supplier that you care and to give your production extra attention.
The inspection consists of:
- Ensure that customer’s prototype, verified samples and clear specifications are in place
- Make sure the factory is properly sat up and ready for production
- Check how the supplier has planned to ensure that the bulk production will conform to the approved samples
- Review the factories own QC checks
- Check with production supervisors and QCs that they have understood the product specifications
- Arrival status of components and material
- Quality of the components and materials to be used
- Quality of packing materials and accessories
- Ideally, check the conformity of the first production run if it is done when we are on site
- Recommend corrective actions if and where needed
If you ask the factory to make a small series before bulk production, we can also check the conformity of the finished product from live production. It is often a very good solution to prevent problems in bulk production.
During Production Inspection
This inspection is done, as the name suggest, sometime during production when at least 20% of the order has been completed and aims to identify product, process, system or staff issues as early as possible to avoid quality defects of the final product.
The inspection consists of:
- Planning of production
- Review how processes are performed
- Verify that the workers have got the right specification
- Review of factories own QC checks
- Quality of components and material to be used
…and for the finished products:
- Packaging and packing
- Check overall appearance of final products
- Conformity of color, size, measurement, weight etc.
- Labelling and logos inspection
- Workmanship inspection
- Functionality inspection
- Material and component inspection
- Safety and function inspection
- Any other wishes from customer’s side
Especially for new product ranges and unproven factories a During Production Inspection is strongly recommended as a complement to a Pre Shipment Inspection, as many quality problems later on in the production arises from unclear specifications, misunderstandings, process and system issues and so forth – things that can be identified and rectified early in the production.
Pre Shipment Inspection
When 100% of the products are produced and 80% are export packed it is time for the pre shipment inspection.
The aim of this inspection is to ensure that the production is in accordance with the customer’s specifications and to provide the customer with enough input around the quality of the production to be able to accept or reject the shipment. The samples for the inspection are picked at random, according to AQL sampling standards or customers requirements.
The inspection consists of the following:
- Packaging and packing
- Check overall appearance of final products
- Conformity of color, size, measurement, weight etc.
- Labelling and logos inspection
- Workmanship inspection
- Functionality inspection
- Material and component inspection
- Safety and function inspection
- Any other wishes from customer’s side
Within 24 hours of inspection you will receive a detailed report with photos and information enabling you to approve or reject production. Gekko Quality Solutions will not approve a shipment unless the client states we have the right to do so.
Container Loading Inspection
This inspection takes place at suppliers warehouse or at the forwarder’s premises and aims to control the condition of containers as well as to ensure that the right quantity and quality of goods will be shipped.
The inspection consists of:
- Packaging and packing
- Check overall appearance and quality of final products
- Quantity according to purchase order
- Ensure containers are in good condition
- Overview of the whole loading phase
